About ITSCC
Mission Statement
In January 2001 in Berlin Germany, members of ITSCC first officially met with members of SCOP (Skin Care in Organ Transplant Recipients). SCOP is an organization very similar to ITSCC, but with members primarily residing and practicing medicine in Europe. SCOP was initiated in 2000 by a group of physicians in Germany who were dedicated to the dermatologic care of transplant recipients. It quickly expanded to included members from France and Italy, and then all of Europe by 2002. These physicians are active in research areas regarding skin cancer in transplant recipients, notably establishing a database to allow significant research to be done regarding etiology, risks and the care of skin cancer in transplant recipients. When the dynamic SCOP group first met with ITSCC members a formidable relationship was established. We share the common goal of improving the dermatologic care of transplant recipients. This working relationship continues to grow. It is with great respect that we join with our SCOP colleague in the research, and thoughtful care that transplant recipients deserve and require.
